Nitrox also called "Enriched Air Nitrox", "EANx", or "Safe Air" has been in use for over 30 years by navy divers, professional divers, and research divers. Nitrox is nothing else but regular air, where part of the nitrogen is replaced by oxygen. Most frequently used are EANx32 and EANx36, Nitrox with oxygen content of 32% and 36%, respectively.

The relative increase of oxygen reduces the absorption of nitrogen in our tissues, thereby safely prolonging the non-deco limit compared to regular air. The following table exemplifies the advantages of Nitrox:
